Avril Lavign: "Sk8ater Superstar"

17 year old Singer/songwriter Avril Lavigne has come a long way. From just another skater girl, she went to teen idol. But don’t be mistaken, she’s not the next Britney Spears. On the contrary, she writes all her own songs and plays electric guitar.
Her album, “Let’s Go”, show us that Avril is influenced by multiple styles. Her album features catchy pop-songs like “Complicated”, punk/rock songs like “Sk8ter Boi” and ballads like “I’m With You” and “Too Much To Ask”.
She already knew she wanted to be a singer when she was just a little girl. She grew up in a 5,000 population town in Canada, Napanee, and look at her now, she’s an established singer with a hit single high in the charts.

She performed whenever she could, wherever she could. Then her dream came true when she was signed by Arista Records. She was first signed as a singer only, but she was determined to write her own music. Antonio "LA" Reid took the chance, probably because of the way things worked out with P!nk!
She moved to Manhattan to record her album when she was 16, she started writing for this album. Avril said: “I love writing, when I get upset and really need to get it out of me I go to my guitar. Sometimes I feel like my guitar is my therapist."
Now Avril is doing her own thing, performing with her own skater punk band. She feels just like when she was in high-school, she says: "I was always a tomboy and I guess I still am. I played hockey during the fall /winter and baseball in the summer. I loved playing with the boys.”
Watch out for her next single, “Sk8ter Boi”, coming to you soon!
